No, Home Care Package is not the same as NDIS. Home Care Packages are provided by the Australian Government Department of Health to support older people to remain living independently at home.
NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme), on the other hand, provides support and services to eligible individuals with permanent and significant disabilities. What they have in common is the desire to promote independence for people at home and away.
To access home care services, you need to go through an assessment process conducted by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or the Aged Care Assessment Service (ACAS) in Victoria. You can contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to arrange an assessment. Otherwise, get in touch with HealSoul. Our team will be able to answer any queries you have about accessing home care services.
There are four levels of Home Care Packages, which are designed to meet different care needs:
- Level 1 : Basic care needs – $9,179.75 a year
- Level 2: Low care needs – $16,147.60 a year
- Level 3 : Intermediate care needs – $35,138.55 a year
- Level 4: High care needs – $53,268.10 a year
Your care provider will work with you to decide how best to spend this package funding. Your support provider can then coordinate your services.
Carers are not allowed to perform medical procedures that require specialised skills, such as wound dressings, injections, or inserting or removing catheters, unless they have received appropriate training and are authorised to do so. They are also not allowed to provide services beyond their expertise or training.
This is a very important part of the NDIS and one that is strictly regulated by carers, support service operators, and the NDIA itself. If you’d like to know more about rights and responsibilities under the NDIS, get in touch with HealSoul. Our team would be happy to answer all of your questions.
No, NDIS is not part of Medicare. NDIS is a separate government-funded scheme that provides support and services to eligible individuals with permanent and significant disabilities. Medicare can fund some elements of holistic care and wellness, including psychology and hospital visits.
To choose an NDIS provider for home care, you can use the NDIS provider finder tool available on the NDIS website. You can also get recommendations from family, friends, or other healthcare professionals, and consider factors such as the provider’s experience, qualifications, and reputation before making a decision.
If you’re looking for a better home care provider, consider HealSoul. Our team of professional support workers have been trained to the highest possible levels. We approach every individual’s needs with compassion and respect, with the ultimate goal in mind of helping them to achieve a more independent way of living.
