Disability support workers provide compassionate assistance to people with disabilities to help them live more independently and become more involved in their community. Specifically can help with personal care, mobility, communication, and other activities of daily living.

Australian disability support workers must pass stringent training processes that assess workers at the highest level of qualifications. Disability support workers also need to be resilient, compassionate, and dedicated to their clients.

The main avenue of disability support is through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). You can apply to become an NDIS participant by contacting the NDIS directly or through an NDIS registered provider. Once approved, participants work with a planner to develop a support plan that outlines what it will take for them to become more independent, and the services and supports that will be provided.

If a participant is not able to become a participant of the NDIS for whatever reason, there are still avenues available to explore. If you have any questions about NDIS eligibility, get in touch with our team.

Disability care in Australia refers to the range of services and supports provided to people with disabilities to help them live more independently and participate fully in the community. Many of these are outlined as services supported by the NDIS, and include personal care, mobility support, communication assistance, social activities, and other forms of support that help people with disabilities live more independently.

Aged care and disability care are two different types of care in Australia. Aged care refers to the services and support provided to older people over the age of 65, while disability care is offered to people with disabilities.

Aged care focuses on meeting the physical, emotional, and social needs of older people, while disability care is designed to support people with disabilities to live more independently and participate fully in the community.

The Disability Carer Allowance is a payment made by the Australian Government to carers who provide daily care and attention to a person with a disability. As of September 2021, the fortnightly payment for the Disability Carer Allowance is $131.90 for each person being cared for. However, the amount of payment may vary depending on individual circumstances.
